#2681 vault edit rename leaves local_encryption secrets under the old vault name

Opened by stack72 · 9/29/2026· Shipped 9/29/2026

Found in verification review of swamp-club#2426. local_encryption stores secrets under .swamp/secrets/local_encryption/, keyed by the vault name. Renaming a vault through swamp vault edit (editor, stdin, or --server) changes the name in the vault config but leaves the secrets under the old name, so they are no longer reachable through the renamed vault. This predates #2426 for editor-mode renames; #2426 makes renames easier over --server. Expected: either move the stored secrets with the rename, or reject renames for vault types that key storage on the vault name with a clear error.
