#2935 Filter/sort extensions by "new" on swamp-club.com/extensions
Opened by tagur · 10/2/2026· Shipped 10/2/2026
Problem
The extensions directory at https://swamp-club.com/extensions is hard to use for discovering newly created extensions. The main page surfaces the most recently updated extensions, which means a brand-new extension can be buried under older extensions that just got a routine version bump. There is no way to see what is genuinely new to the ecosystem.
This hurts discoverability for freshly published extensions — exactly the ones a user might want to try out — because "recently updated" conflates "just created" with "existing thing that changed."
Proposed solution
Add a way to browse/filter extensions by newness, distinct from recency of update. Options:
- A sort/filter toggle for "Newest" (first-published date) alongside the existing "Recently updated" view.
- Surface the first-published / created-at date on each extension card so new entries are visually identifiable.
- Optionally a "New" badge for extensions first published within some recent window (e.g. last 30 days).
The exact trigger/threshold for what counts as "new" is open — first-publish timestamp is the most natural signal.
Alternatives considered
- Relying on the current "recently updated" ordering — insufficient, since it mixes new publishes with updates to existing extensions.
- Searching by name — only works if you already know what you are looking for, which defeats the discovery use case.

Thanks @tagur for reporting this! We shipped: Restore the "Newest" extension sort to order by first publish (createdAt) instead of aliasing Recently Updated (updatedAt). One-line split in buildSortDoc, a matching compound index, and regression tests against the real search(). Card date and New badge are out of scope per the human.. The fix has been merged and a release is on its way. We appreciate your contribution to swamp.
