OpenAI image generation and editing via OpenAI's GPT image models (defaults gpt-image-2.5-flare for generation, gpt-image-2.5-sunburst for edits) — text-to-image generation, image editing with reference images, free-form model selection with pass-through for newer models, per-model size and quality validation, and local refusal of shut-down models. Vault-based API key.
Model selection rework ahead of OpenAI's 2026-10-23 gpt-image-1 shutdown: free-string model argument; defaults gpt-image-2.5-flare (generate) and gpt-image-2.5-sunburst (edit); flexible sizes and xhigh/max quality on the 2.x models; shut-down models (gpt-image-1, and from 2026-12-01 gpt-image-1.5, gpt-image-1-mini, chatgpt-image-latest) warn beforehand and are refused locally after; DALL-E refused; response_format never sent; safer error messages, timeouts and JPEG/WebP edit sources.
