#2750 Leaderboard: top-tier username styling (tier-sovereign-text) reads like core-team styling
Opened by webframp · 9/30/2026· Shipped 9/30/2026
Description
On https://swamp-club.com/leaderboard my username (webframp) renders in a distinct style that looks the same as the core swamp team's usernames (e.g. stack72, keeb, swamp_lord). I am not on the core team, so the styling implies a role I don't have. It is also a design concern: a tier style that is visually indistinguishable from a staff style is misleading to other users.
Observed markup
My leaderboard link:
<a href="/u/webframp" class="tier-sovereign-text truncate hover:underline" style="text-shadow:0 0 8px #f472b660;" title="Drowned Sovereign" data-text="webframp">Every other user on the page gets a plain Tailwind color class chosen by tier name, e.g. text-orange-300 (Black Water Wraith), text-orange-400 (Bog Keeper), text-amber-400 (Murk Beast), text-rose-400 (Mire Walker). Only tier-sovereign-text is a dedicated class. I found no staff/role marker in the markup, so I can't tell from the HTML alone what drives the core-team look. The core-team usernames did not appear in the fetched HTML, so I could not compare their markup directly.
Steps to reproduce
- Open https://swamp-club.com/leaderboard
- Find
webframp(Tier 15, "Drowned Sovereign") - Compare its rendering with the core-team usernames
Expected
Username styling should not be shared between regular users and the core team, so that it does not imply a staff role.
Actual
webframp is rendered in the same style as the core team.
Suggested direction (design)
Give core-team/staff accounts an explicit, separate treatment (role badge or dedicated style), and make sure tier styles do not collide with it.
