01README
Search the public USGS earthquake catalog (FDSN Event Web Service) by time range, magnitude range, and/or location — a bounding box or a center point plus radius.
One method, search. Read-only, host-locked to earthquake.usgs.gov, no auth or secrets required. Defaults to the last 24 hours when no time range is given, so a bare call never accidentally pulls the entire multi-decade catalog. A search that matches nothing (USGS returns HTTP 204) degrades to a count: 0 result instead of throwing.
Quick Start
--input latitude=35.7 --input longitude=139.7 --input maxRadiusKm=30002Models

Global Arguments
| Argument | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| userAgent | string | User-Agent sent to earthquake.usgs.gov — identify yourself honestly |
fn search(startTime?: string, endTime?: string, minMagnitude?: number, maxMagnitude?: number, minLatitude?: number, maxLatitude?: number, minLongitude?: number, maxLongitude?: number, latitude?: number, longitude?: number, maxRadiusKm?: number, limit: number, orderBy: enum)
Search the public USGS earthquake catalog by time range, magnitude range, and/or location (bounding box or radius). Defaults to the last 24 hours when no time range is given. An empty match (HTTP 204) is a normal zero-result search, not an error.
| Argument | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| startTime? | string | ISO 8601 date/time, e.g. 2026-09-01 — defaults to 24h before endTime/now |
| endTime? | string | ISO 8601 date/time, e.g. 2026-09-17 — defaults to now |
| minMagnitude? | number | Minimum magnitude, e.g. 4.5 |
| maxMagnitude? | number | Maximum magnitude |
| minLatitude? | number | |
| maxLatitude? | number | |
| minLongitude? | number | |
| maxLongitude? | number | |
| latitude? | number | Center latitude for a circular search — pair with longitude and maxRadiusKm |
| longitude? | number | Center longitude for a circular search — pair with latitude and maxRadiusKm |
| maxRadiusKm? | number | Radius in km around latitude/longitude — requires both to be set |
| limit | number | Max events to return (USGS caps at 20000; this model caps at 2000) |
| orderBy | enum |
