#1950 model type describe reports arguments: {} for models that define a full args schema

swamp model type describe <type> --json reports arguments: {} for methods that define a full Zod
argument schema in source. The method works; only its introspected contract is empty.
Measured, twice, 2026-09-02
| model | args defined in source | describe reports |
|---|---|---|
@mirantis/mircloud-probe-cluster-access (probeClusterAccess) |
6 | 0 |
@mirantis/mircloud-verify-node-safe-to-disrupt (verifyNodeSafeToDisrupt) |
6 | 0 |
@mirantis/mircloud-lab-cert (6 methods) |
7 per method | 55 total — correct |
@mirantis/mircloud-resolve-control-vm-host (resolveControlVmHost) |
4 | 4 — correct |
Source counts are the field count of the const ...ArgsSchema = z.object({...}) each method passes
as its arguments. All four models are repo-local (extensions/models/*.ts), and all four declare
arguments: <NamedSchema> in the same way — so this is neither a repo-local limitation nor a
declaration-style difference. swamp doctor extensions reports OVERALL: PASS, and
doctor --repair --dry-run plans only the removal of 5 orphaned bundle files, which is unrelated.
Why it matters
describe is the documented way to learn a method's contract — the repo's own guidance is to run it
before wiring a step. An empty arguments: {} is indistinguishable from "this method takes no
arguments", and that is a materially different design conclusion: it implies the call target can
only be carried in the model INSTANCE name. That is the reasoning it nearly produced here, on a
method with six arguments.
Expected
describe reports the declared argument schema, or reports that it could not introspect one — an
empty object should not be the representation of both "no arguments" and "unknown".
