#3147 Flaky test: WalSink pruning the queue under a hung downstream keeps the checkpoint delivered segments wait on

Opened by zack · 10/7/2026· Shipped 10/7/2026

What happened

The test at src/serve/audit_sinks/wal_sink_test.ts:608 failed once in a verify-build run (full parallel suite) and passed in five consecutive local runs of the file alone.

The failing assertion is the last one in the test, line 662: assertEquals(wal.segmentCount, 0) saw 1. After sink.close() one WAL segment was still on disk.

FAILED | 20108 passed (523 steps) | 1 failed | 35 ignored (1 step) (47s)

Context

  • Seen on commit 1fa9f50c (branch issue-3145, swamp-club#3145), which changes nothing under src/.
  • Base is main at 01b2e6f7.
  • verify-build run id: 5ea24691-a47a-43c8-ad6c-16336dc20bc3
  • The test was added by the fix for swamp-club#3081 (commit d538bfb0), which was itself a WalSink flaky-test fix. swamp-club#3083 covers a different WalSink test.

Likely area

close() returning before the last delivered segment is removed from the WAL when the suite runs under load. Not investigated further.
