#2369 datastore config migrate does not set managedConfig on a second repo that shares the datastore

Opened by stack72 · 9/22/2026

Reported by the extension work on swamp-club#2353, not yet reproduced independently.

Report

Running swamp datastore config migrate in one repo moves config (models, workflows, vaults) into the shared datastore's config tier and sets managedConfig: true in that repo's .swamp.yaml. A second repo pointing at the same datastore is not updated: its .swamp.yaml keeps managedConfig unset. It keeps reading definitions and workflows from its repo-local models/ and workflows/ directories instead of the config tier, so the two repos silently diverge.

To confirm

  1. Two repos with the same repoId and the same custom datastore (for example s3 on localstack).
  2. Run datastore config migrate in repo A.
  3. Check repo B's .swamp.yaml and whether B sees A's migrated config, both after a pull and after running any command.

Expected

Either the second repo detects that the datastore's config tier is managed and adopts managedConfig (or tells the operator to), or migrate documents the per-repo step clearly and datastore status / doctor datastores flags the mismatch.
