#2400 Windows compat CI is red on main: handleDataDelete markDirty relPath assertion fails on Windows

Opened by stack72 · 9/23/2026

The Windows Compatibility workflow (.github/workflows/windows-compat.yml) has failed on every push to main for at least the last 15 runs (back to d75ade65). Found while triaging swamp-club#2396.

Two tests fail on windows-latest:

  1. src/serve/handlers/data_handlers_test.ts:330 - "handleDataDelete: pushes the deletion after per-path markDirty (no bare override)"

    • Error: repo must mark deleted version directories and latest marker dirty (expected true, got false)
    • The assertion is markDirtyCalls.some((c) => c.relPath?.includes("result/")). On Windows the relPath probably uses backslashes, so the forward-slash match fails.
    • To decide: is this a test-only separator bug, or does data delete really pass backslash relPaths to markDirty on Windows? repo_context_test.ts ("wiring forwards forward-slash cache-relative relPath to markDirty") treats forward-slash relPaths as the contract, and a backslash relPath would reach S3 as the wrong key. The test was last changed in 8a577a52 (swamp-club#2277, #2524).
  2. integration/webhook_payload_inputs_test.ts:548 - "webhook run: data.latest() expression injected through the payload is not evaluated"

    • Already covered by swamp-club#2396 (the same test fails on Linux with dash). Listed here only so this issue shows the whole Windows picture.
