#3597 Add CLI command to remove a vault configuration
Opened by tagur · 10/19/2026· Shipped 10/19/2026
Problem
- No CLI command removes a vault configuration.
- `swamp vault delete ` removes one secret key only.
- `swamp vault delete trip-planner` fails with `Missing argument: key`.
- Vault `trip-planner` (type `local_encryption`, 0 secret keys) cannot be removed with the CLI.
Request
- Add vault config removal, for example `swamp vault delete ` when no key is given.
- Refuse removal while a behavior references the vault, unless `--force` is passed.
- Prompt for confirmation. `--yes` skips the prompt.
- Define what happens to `local_encryption` key material on removal.
Environment
- swamp 20261016.021405.0-sha.b46b8895
- darwin

Thanks @tagur for reporting this! We shipped: Add swamp vault remove VAULT_NAME, which deletes a vault config and then, once that removal is published, the stored secrets and generated key of a local_encryption vault. It refuses the repo's defaultVault with no override, refuses a vault referenced by behaviors, workflows or the datastore config unless --force, prompts with a warning naming the directory and secrets to be permanently deleted unless --yes, and leaves remote secrets of extension vault types untouched.. The fix has been merged and a release is on its way. We appreciate your contribution to swamp.
