#3610 Docs: manual pages for push auditing the dependency version that ships (deprecated pin, loose specifier, JSR checks)
Opened by skunk-ape · 10/19/2026· Shipped 10/19/2026
swamp-club#3352 changes what extension push reports about dependencies. The manual pages that describe dependency trust need updating: content/manual/explanation/extension-trust.md, content/manual/reference/extensions/publishing.md, content/manual/reference/extensions/scorecard-rubric.md, content/manual/explanation/extension-publishing-lifecycle.md and content/manual/how-to/extensions/improve-score.md.
What changed in push:
- Each npm: and jsr: import is audited at the version the push ships: an exact pin, else the highest version the deno.lock records that satisfies the specifier (only when the bundler honours that lock: a deno.json was found, or package.json mode), else what the registry resolves today.
- npm license, maintainers and deprecation are read from that version. The age warning keeps the package's latest publish.
- New warnings, each with a cause, gated like safety and review warnings (--yes waives them, acceptedWarnings.dependencyTrust lists them): deprecated-version (the shipped version is deprecated while latest is not), loose-specifier (unpinned, range or dist-tag; names the version this push resolves), jsr-yanked.
- New error: jsr-missing (the JSR package or version does not exist). A package whose shipped version and latest are both deprecated stays an error.
- A JSR outage makes the dependency not audited.
- The rubric's dependency-trust factor is lost only to errors and not-audited dependencies, not to the three new warnings.
- swamp-club#3354 will turn deprecated pins and loose specifiers into errors after a two-week window, so the manual should tell authors to pin exact versions now.
