#3321 model method run --literal-inputs: the warning's Raw: text drops a brace from the expression

Opened by stack72 · 10/12/2026· Shipped 10/12/2026

What happens

With --literal-inputs, an input holding expression text stays literal (correct) and swamp logs a warning. The warning's Raw: part misquotes the input. An input of ${{ env.HOME }} is shown as:

Raw: ${ env.HOME }

one brace short of what was passed.

Why it matters

The warning exists to show the operative exactly which text was left unevaluated, so it should print that text verbatim. Today it shows different text, and the manual has to stop quoting the warning before Raw:.

Likely cause

The value is interpolated into a log message whose formatter treats {…} as a placeholder, so one level of braces is consumed. Passing the raw text as a structured property (or escaping braces) should fix it.

Repro

Binary 20261012.200126.0-sha.3b7bb2ee:

swamp model method run <model> <method> --literal-inputs --input 'text=${{ env.HOME }}'

Expected: Raw: ${{ env.HOME }} Actual: Raw: ${ env.HOME }
