#3245 Windows: check-config grant error messages use backslash paths

Opened by stack72 · 10/11/2026· Shipped 10/11/2026

swamp serve check-config outputs grant file paths with backslashes on Windows (e.g. grants\bad.yaml) but consumers expect forward slashes. 4 UAT failures in serve/none/check_config_test.ts. Related to swamp#2065 which fixed most path outputs but check-config grant errors were missed. Discovered via Windows UAT runner swamp-uat#363.

Tested on Windows Server 2022 with swamp 20261011.150301.0. Four failures in serve/none/check_config_test.ts. Each test asserts that the error output contains a grant file path with forward slashes, but the CLI outputs backslashes. Exact diffs: (1) grants/bad.yaml vs grants\bad.yaml (in-repo grants dir). (2) external/bad.yaml vs C:\Users[REDACTED]\external\bad.yaml (--grants-file absolute path). (3) external-dir/bad.yaml vs C:\Users[REDACTED]\external-dir\bad.yaml (--grants-dir absolute path). (4) grants/spellings.yaml vs grants\spellings.yaml (type spelling warnings). All four are assertStringIncludes checking for forward-slash paths in the CLI error message. The CLI should normalize these paths to forward slashes in its output, matching the existing swamp#2065 convention.

Tested with binary 20261011.222452.0 which includes the fix. 2 of 4 tests now pass (relative paths like grants/bad.yaml are fixed). 2 still fail: --grants-file and --grants-dir tests where the CLI outputs absolute Windows paths like C:\Users[REDACTED]\external\bad.yaml. The test asserts for external/bad.yaml which does not match the absolute backslash path. The fix needs to also normalize absolute paths in grant error messages.
