#1311 Documentation gives conflicting behavior for pulling yanked extension versions

Opened by kneel · 7/21/2026· Shipped 7/21/2026

The documentation is inconsistent about whether consumers can pull a yanked Extension version.

The "Extension Trust and the Supply Chain" page (https://swamp-club.com/manual/explanation/extension-trust) states:

A yanked version is removed from automatic resolution but remains downloadable by exact pinned version, because existing lockfiles should not silently break.

The Publishing Commands reference (https://swamp-club.com/manual/reference/extensions/publishing) states under the yank section:

Yanked extensions cannot be pulled by consumers.

These two statements contradict each other. Please clarify the intended behavior and update both pages consistently. In particular, the documentation should distinguish between:

  1. Automatic or channel-based resolution
  2. An explicit pull of an exact version
  3. Restoration from an existing lockfile
