Decide what happens to @swamp/software-factory when gatorwalk-factory goes live (target 2026-10-14), and do it.

State today:

Last published version 2026.09.24.2 (#316).
#916, the driving-agent wedge (atalanta), is in_progress with PR #318 unmerged. Per the field study it was about 14 hours in and not green. It also adds a second : gate id, which reintroduces the Windows path problem (#2290).
#2526, run data leaking between dash-prefixed work items, is closed, but its separator fix never landed on software-factory main.
Users: HiveMQ (bixu, ynm) at production scale, a fork by mgreten, and several small users (brucejo75, david_workingmemory, annie, mtaylor and others). Registry pulls are high.

Decide:

PR #318: merge it, fix it smaller, or close it with a stated workaround.
Whether any other open software-factory issues get fixes before the freeze.
The support window: how long software-factory gets security and critical fixes, and when it is marked deprecated in the registry.
Migration: whether there is a tool or only a guide (paired with the docs issue). Is HiveMQ offered help directly?

Out of scope: new software-factory features.

Done when:

the decisions above are recorded in software-factory's README and changelog;
the deprecation notice is ready to publish alongside go-live;
PR #318 is resolved;
open software-factory issues are each triaged as fix, won't-fix or superseded by gatorwalk, with a comment.

The software-factory deprecation decision still needs making; this will be reopened or refiled when it is taken up.
