#2335 Docs: manual serve-flags page does not mention SWAMP_SERVER_URL is required with SWAMP_SERVER_TOKEN

Opened by stack72 · 9/22/2026

In the swamp-club manual at content/manual/reference/swamp-serve/serve-flags.md, the environment variable table (line 357) lists SWAMP_SERVER_TOKEN as Server token (alternative to stored credential) without mentioning that SWAMP_SERVER_URL must also be set. Users reading the docs would expect SWAMP_SERVER_TOKEN to work standalone. The entry should clarify that both vars are required, and the SWAMP_SERVER_URL entry should cross-reference that it scopes SWAMP_SERVER_TOKEN. Related: swamp-club#2325, swamp-club#2334.

Fixed in https://github.com/swamp-club/swamp-club/pull/1247 — serve-flags.md now says SWAMP_SERVER_TOKEN is only sent when SWAMP_SERVER_URL is set and matches the target server (SWAMP_SERVE_URL does not scope it), with the warning text; SWAMP_SERVER_URL cross-references it.
